IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE –

TAEKWONDO ATHLETES DEFEAT THE FALLS AND DEFEAT THE HEAT

Seven top competitors have been training for the last 7 months six days a week at Rhythmatic Martial Arts Academy.  They have been preparing for the USA Taekwondo National Qualifiers and Junior Olympic.  These events are held every year across the country and the best Taekwondo competitors come together to compete for metals and bragging rights.

On April 17-18 the Rhythmatic team of six competitors went to the National Qualifiers in Buffalo, NY to represent the school and New Jersey.  During their stay, the competitors and their families visited Niagara Falls.  This was a first time experience for most of the families.  All athletes won a total of twelve medals in forms and sparring which qualified them to compete on the World Class level at the Junior Olympics.

Their hard work and training did not end there.  Upon returning, the athletes increased their training time and continued winning in local tournaments.  They wanted to be more than prepared to compete with the “best of the best” at the Junior Olympics.

So on June 30th the team boarded their flight together and headed to Austin, TX for the 2009 USA Taekwondo Junior Olympics and National Championship.  The trip from June 30- July 3rd was filled with two days of competing, a riverside view of the largest colony of insect bats in North America, family excursions and team swimming.

Rhythmatic’s teams returned home with 6 medals and two undefeated national champions, Angel Lora-Flores and Charles Cumberbatch-Smith.  Congratulations to all athletes, coaches and parents on a job well done!
